'Not Sexy at All'
Megan Thee Stallion will replace him at Lollapalooza, Sabrina Carpenter at Outside Lands
With six weeks’ notice — and fresh off an appearance at Kendrick Lamar’s Pop-Out — Tyler, the Creator announced on social media Thursday that he would be dropping out of headlining slots at Lollapalooza and Outside Lands.
“I hate saying this, but I have to cancel Lollapalooza and Outside Lands,” he wrote in lower-case letters. “I made a commitment that I can no longer keep, and that bums me out knowing how excited folks were.”
Another “the” artist (with an extra “e”) will replace him on Aug. 1 at Lollapalooza: Megan Thee Stallion. “Hot girl summer in Chicago,” she wrote on Instagram, announcing her appointment to the lineup. Sabrina (no “the”) Carpenter will replace Tyler at Outside Lands on Aug. 10.
Tyler ended his message by begging for his fans to understand. “[Canceling] is not sexy at all,” he wrote. “Please, please forgive me or call me names when you see me in person. Love.”

A rep for Tyler tells Rolling Stone that he wouldn’t be making any further comment on his decision to cancel the concerts at this time.
People seeking refunds, now that Tyler has dropped out, are likely out of luck. Lollapalooza’s website says, “All sales are FINAL – no refunds and no exchanges.” Other headliners at the fest include Hozier, SZA, Stray Kids, the Killers, Future x Metro Boomin, Blink-182, and Melanie Martinez. Outside Lands will refund ticketholders only if the festival is rescheduled or canceled, per ticketer Front Gate Ticketing. The other headliners for Outside Lands are the Killers, Sturgill Simpson, and “a special country set” by Post Malone.
