John 21:1–6 — The New International Version (NIV)

1Afterward Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Galilee. It happened this way: 2Simon Peter, Thomas (also known as Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together. 3“I’m going out to fish,” Simon Peter told them, and they said, “We’ll go with you.” So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

4Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.

5He called out to them, Friends, haven’t you any fish?”

“No,” they answered.

6He said, Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

John 21:1–6 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

1After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shewed he himself. 2There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. 3Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing. 4But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. 5Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No. 6And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

John 21:1–6 — New Living Translation (NLT)

1Later, Jesus appeared again to the disciples beside the Sea of Galilee. This is how it happened. 2Several of the disciples were there—Simon Peter, Thomas (nicknamed the Twin), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples.

3Simon Peter said, “I’m going fishing.”

“We’ll come, too,” they all said. So they went out in the boat, but they caught nothing all night.

4At dawn Jesus was standing on the beach, but the disciples couldn’t see who he was. 5He called out, Fellows, have you caught any fish?”

“No,” they replied.

6Then he said, Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you’ll get some!” So they did, and they couldn’t haul in the net because there were so many fish in it.

John 21:1–6 — The New King James Version (NKJV)

1After these things Jesus showed Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias, and in this way He showed Himself: 2Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together. 3Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.”

They said to him, “We are going with you also.” They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing. 4But when the morning had now come, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. 5Then Jesus said to them, Children, have you any food?”

They answered Him, “No.”

6And He said to them, Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish.

John 21:1–6 — New Century Version (NCV)

1Later, Jesus showed himself to his followers again—this time at Lake Galilee. This is how he showed himself: 2Some of the followers were together: Simon Peter, Thomas (called Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the two sons of Zebedee, and two other followers. 3Simon Peter said, “I am going out to fish.”

The others said, “We will go with you.” So they went out and got into the boat. They fished that night but caught nothing.

4Early the next morning Jesus stood on the shore, but the followers did not know it was Jesus. 5Then he said to them, Friends, did you catch any fish?”

They answered, “No.”

6He said, Throw your net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they did, and they caught so many fish they could not pull the net back into the boat.

John 21:1–6 — American Standard Version (ASV)

1After these things Jesus manifested himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and he manifested himself on this wise. 2There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples. 3Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also come with thee. They went forth, and entered into the boat; and that night they took nothing. 4But when day was now breaking, Jesus stood on the beach: yet the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. 5Jesus therefore saith unto them, Children, have ye aught to eat? They answered him, No. 6And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

John 21:1–6 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)

1After these things Jesus manifested himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias. And he manifested himself thus. 2There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael who was of Cana of Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples. 3Simon Peter says to them, I go to fish. They say to him, We also come with thee. They went forth, and went on board, and that night took nothing. 4And early morn already breaking, Jesus stood on the shore; the disciples however did not know that it was Jesus. 5Jesus therefore says to them, Children, have ye anything to eat? They answered him, No. 6And he said to them, Cast the net at the right side of the ship and ye will find. They cast therefore, and they could no longer draw it, from the multitude of fishes.

John 21:1–6 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

1Later, by the Sea of Tiberias, Jesus showed himself again to the disciples. This is what happened. 2Simon Peter, Thomas (called Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, Zebedee’s sons, and two other disciples of Jesus were together. 3Simon Peter said to the others, “I’m going fishing.”

They told him, “We’re going with you.”

They went out in a boat but didn’t catch a thing that night. 4As the sun was rising, Jesus stood on the shore. The disciples didn’t realize that it was Jesus.

5Jesus asked them, “Friends, haven’t you caught any fish?”

They answered him, “No, we haven’t.”

6He told them, “Throw the net out on the right side of the boat, and you’ll catch some.” So they threw the net out and were unable to pull it in because so many fish were in it.

John 21:1–6 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

3“I’m going fishing,” Simon Peter said to them.

“We’re coming with you,” they told him. They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

4When daybreak came, Jesus stood on the shore. However, the disciples did not know it was Jesus.

5Men,” Jesus called to them, you don’t have any fish, do you?”

“No,” they answered.

6Cast the net on the right side of the boat,” He told them, and you’ll find some.” So they did, and they were unable to haul it in because of the large number of fish.

John 21:1–6 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

4Just after daybreak, Jesus stood on the beach; but the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. 5Jesus said to them, Children, you have no fish, have you?” They answered him, “No.” 6He said to them, Cast the net to the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in because there were so many fish.

4Now when it was already early morning, Jesus stood on the beach. However, the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. 5So Jesus said to them, “Children, you do not have any fish to eat, do you? They answered him, “No.” 6And he said to them, “Throw the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they threw it, and were no longer able to haul it in from the large number of the fish.
