FATEs are random events that can occur in Final Fantasy 14's different zones. Very rarely, special boss FATEs will spawn; conquering these will grant items that can be traded in for rare rewards like Mounts, Minions, and glamour items.

Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail - The Serpentlord Seethes FATE Guide
If you're wondering where to get Ttokrrone Scales to bag yourself the Mehwapyarra mount in FFXIV: Dawntrail, here's what you need to know.
There are two special FATEs in Dawntrail. This time, we'll take a look at the Mascot Murder FATE that can happen in the final zone of the expansion, Living Memory. Below, you can find everything you need to know about this FATE, including how often it spawns, how to beat the boss, and what rewards you get.
How To Spawn The Mascot Murder FATE
The Mascot Murder FATE spawns in Living Memory, at the Tower of Mu (X:37.3, Y:33.3).
You will need to be able to fly in this zone to get here. If you don't have flying unlocked in Living Memory yet, you can also hitch a ride on another player's multi-seater Mount.
Before Mascot Murder spawns, there are two prerequisite FATEs that must first be completed.
- Mascot March (X:35, Y:34)
- Mascot Meyhem (X:35, Y:34)
Once both of these FATEs have been completed, Mascot Murder will spawn within a few minutes, unless it is still on cooldown.
Mascot Murder has a cooldown timer of 36 to 72 hours; once the FATE is completed, it won't spawn again for this duration of time, even if the prerequisite FATEs are completed.
Mica The Magical Mu Boss Fight Guide
The Mascot Murder FATE tasks you with defeating Mica the Magical Mu. This boss will use the following mechanics.
Attack Name | Type | Details |
---|---|---|
Deal | Special | Mica will divide the arena into six sections. In each section will be a floating card with a number of acorns on it, from 1 to 6. After a few seconds, the acorns will be replaced with question marks, so you'll need to remember which section had which number. |
Draw | Special | Mica will flash cards around himself with a specific number of acorns on it. This will be repeated a second time, so you'll need to remember which cards are shown for the next mechanic. |
Card Trick | AoE | After casting Draw, Mica will then blast five of the six sections of the arena. The safe spot corresponds to the number of the card shown during Draw. For example, if Mica showed the 4-card during Draw, the section of the arena that previously held the 4-card will be safe. This attack is repeated for as many cards as Mica showed during Draw. |
Bewitching Ball/Rolling Starlight | Line AoE | Mica will get on top of a ball before performing several line AoEs around the arena. These will be indicated ahead of time, so you'll need to remember the position of the lines and move to a safe spot to avoid them all. There are usually safe spots around the edges of the arena, so look there first. |
Flourishing Bow | Circle AoE/Ring AoE | Deals damage in a large point-blank AoE followed immediately by a ring AoE, with the safe area for the ring AoE being the previously unsafe area of the circle AoE. |
Shimmerstorm | Circle AoEs | Targets random players with circle AoEs. Move out of them to avoid taking damage. |
Double Misdirect | Conal AoE | Deals damage in two sets of conal AoEs. The first set is telegraphed but the second set is not. Move into the previously unsafe area after the first set resolves to avoid the second set. |
Spark of Imagination | Roomwide AoE | Deals damage to all party members. |
Magical Hat | Line AoEs | Creates a row of circles that will then fire line AoEs in both directions in two sets. |
Round of Applause | Ring AoE/Circle AoE | Similar to Flourishing Bow, but in reverse. Deals damage in a large ring AoE followed immediately by a point-blank AoE. Avoid these in the same way as with Flourishing Bow. |
Mica will repeat these mechanics until he is defeated. Subsequent uses of Deal and Draw will have Mica show three cards, and the patterns will be a bit more complicated. Additionally, he will mix casts of Card Trick with other attacks like Flourishing Bow, Shimmerstorm, Double Misidirect, Magical Hat, and Round of Applause.
You'll need to be prepared to dodge all of these while remembering the correct cards and positioning for Card Trick.
