In this simulation, you will use microscopy to study the difference of sperm and ova while helping the team at the Labster fertility center. You will explore how meiosis contributes to genetic diversity in the population and discover the key differences between meiosis and mitosis.

Meet Marie at the Labster fertility center

Meet Marie at one of the labs in the Labster fertility center. She will greet you with open arms, as she desperately needs your help and expertise to fix a mistake. The lab technician accidently forgot to label the tubes with sperm and ova samples. Will you be able to study the samples and determine which is which?

Fill in the blanks of meiosis

Complete the diagram with an overview of the process of meiosis. Fill the blank boxes in the steps of the meiosis process, with the correct content. You will dive into the interphase, meiosis I and meiosis II and the production of diploid and haploid cells.

Compare meiosis and mitosis

Next, you will compare the process of meiosis and mitosis and learn how each of these processes contributes to human reproduction. You will complete interactive diagrams of both meiosis and mitosis to create a visual overview for yourself.
